Newbies & Experienced Triathletes
Ocean Swim Clinic: For those who can swim 50 meters without touching comfortably in a pool
We will meet at Zuma Beach, in the parking lot near Lifeguard Station #14 (far northern end of the lot) at 8:15, to start the swim at 8:30am. If you don't need the clinic than you can do the group swim with the experienced triathletes. Those who want to join just for the bike can meet us at 10am. I will repeat: You can park in the
Zuma Parking lot ($10) or on the street for free, but be aware of the the signs - cars get towed every week!
For the newer Triathletes, we will go over a full intro to the In's & Out's of Ocean Swimming (a skill onto itself), while our experienced triathlete's do a regular practice swim. Then we will all short swim together, with everyone paired up; newbie with experienced swimmer. I suggest you bring a wetsuit, goggles & bright swim cap (those who have extras please bring them) - if you need a wetsuit, I have a few - please let me know in advance. The cost for the Clinic is $20 for first timers and $5 for 2nd & 3rd time (after your first two repeats it is free). I also strongly suggest you have a light breakfast (either a bar, bagel, banana, etc...). DO NOT EAT A FULL NORMAL MEAL - unless you want to "feed the fishes." It is best to eat something along the lines of what you would eat on race day – but you do need to have something about 1 hour prior to practice. If you have any questions please call me. Bike: At 10am We will be riding the entire course with the new people (experienced riders will do their own thing). You must bring a helmet and water.
